Have you ever wondered why you’re having so much trouble finding the right associate? You look through resumes and they don’t seem qualified and you go through numerous disappointing interviews? Well, in this short video, I’m going to give you a whole different perspective to think about that. I think it’s going to make you feel a lot better.
I’ve talked to a number of doctors who say that every single associate interview that they speak to is poorly qualified. The resumes look terrible, the associates show up for interviews and it’s a disaster and I know that that’s not true, I see it all the time. Well this last weekend, I was in Seattle doing a Five Star Management seminar and I introduced to the group two young women who just went through the AEP, that’s the Associate Empowerment Project and they are working in win-win associate development offices and their rise out of no patients at all to a busy, booming practice has taken place in just a matter of weeks. One young woman produced over 20 new patients in one day, 20 new patient appointments and did five new patient exams in one day all of her own generation and after that one of the doctors was speaking to me and he says boy, I need to find a go-getter like that and I told him, I said first of all that young woman had she been put in a standard associateship, she probably wouldn’t have done a fraction of that because she is a go-getter but you know what she had to be trained on what to go get, she had to be trained how to go get it. She had to train be trained on how to bring it back. She had to be trained on how to put it through a report of findings. So, I believe that there are potentially great associates all over the place and your interviewing them, but you don’t have the win-win philosophy. You don’t have the win-win Paradigm. You don’t know what you’re recruiting them to and if you knew that, then it would be a totally different ballgame.
Now, I want you to think about this you can take a 6 or a 7 out of 10 with 10 being high and put them in the system and the system will take that person up to a 9 or 10. You can take a 9 or a 10 and put them in one of the crap, old model associateships and it’s going to make a six or a seven out of them and they’ll be demotivated in no time and ready to quit. It happens all the time. In fact, it happens at an alarming rate. I figure that the old model breaks at about 85% That means that when they end 85 percent of them have a sour taste in their mouth for their associateships.
So one of the things about win-win associates and the Associate Empowerment Project or what we call the AEP is that it’s like taking a gem and cutting that gem and increasing the brilliance and taking that young associate and maximizing her or his potential and having them see how great they can be.
Now, his is also an office that when that’s happening with you and to you is growing like crazy. It’s super exciting. There’s a lot of work to do but it’s very very exciting and you know what? Your clinic directors excited the associate is excited.
So, you might be interviewing people or taking a look at resumes and if you knew the win-win formula, if you understood how to develop associates inside the new paradigm, you can have a totally different experience.
